One of the largest press events of the year for shows like The Legend of Korra is the San Diego Comic Con. As many of you are aware, this event is presented to the media on behalf of different shows and networks for upcoming news, release dates, etc.

While the actual Comic-Con 2013 date was released quite some time ago, it was not until yesterday that Nickelodeon announced the dates for the Legend of Korra Panel. Comic Con occurs around mid-July throughout a period of 3 days. Legend of Korra will have its panel on Friday, July 19 from 11:15 AM ― 12:15 PM in Ballroom 20.

The expectations from the panel should be fairly high amongst the Avatar fans. In case you do not already know, Nick released an exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from season 2 not too long ago. Therefore, as Comic Con is steadily approaching, we should definitely expect some further news and/or trailers on the upcoming Book 2: Spirits

Additionally, if anyone is going to the Legend of Korra Panel at Comic Con this year, please be sure to tweet/e-mail/post/share any information you can with the UltimateKorra Team. It would be greatly appreciated by us and the rest of the Avatar fans. 5 Interesting Facts About Book 2

Janet Varney (left), voice of Korra, sits here with Micheal Dante DeMartino.
The 2012 Legend of Korra Comic Con was one of the biggest panel events this year as many fans attended it in San Diego during the month of July. It was quite a big event, especially with the season finale airing just a few days earlier. The collection of Korra and Avatar fans came from all around dressed up in costumes to express their enthusiasm on the show. The day went well as fans got to meet the cast of Legend of Korra. This day was quite significant for the #KorraNation as much information was released on the show to the Legend of Korra Fandom. Here are some 5 interesting facts about Book 2.

5 Interesting Facts About Book 2

  • In Book 2, we'll find Team Avatar in the South Pole, where Korra will be learning more about her spiritual self and her past spirit lives.
  • We will also see the Fire-Ferrets back in the sport of Pro-Bending
  • Scenes and clips of Book 2 were shown at the Comic-Con including Korra using Avatar power to win the race. (This turns out to be a problem later on.)
  • Another scene was Mako in a chase scene going after a few robbers.
  • The fans and attenders were in for a treat at the end of the presentation. The LOK sound engineer, Nicolaas Bertelsen, recorded some of the actual crowd reactions at the comic-con. The producers later announced that some of those recordings would be used as sound-effects for crowds in future episodes!

It's official everyone! The originally planned 26 episodes for Legend of Korra has been changed to 52 episodes! Earning over an average of 3.8 million views on National Television, Nickelodeon has allowed Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DeMartino (creators of ATLA and LOK) to extend the spectacular series. These extensions and changes include 3 new books in total. The first book's first episode of course premiered on April 11, 2012 and ended on June 23, 2012. Now there are 3 more books to come, supposedly with 13 episodes each.

Confirmed sources have told us that the premiere of Season 1 Book 2 will premiere sometime in 2013. However the exact date remains unknown.

This is great news for ATLA fans and LOK fans (#KorraNation!) As early word traveled, they were quite disappointed by the fact that the new sequel only had 26 episodes. But officially, as of June 11, it was announced that the number of episodes will be DOUBLED!
